It is super-slim at 7.2mm without compromising on the battery capacity at 6,500mAh.Beautiful build, particularly at this price pointOur unit arrived in the Silk Green edition, weighing just 185 grams with a polyurethane water-wave texture inspired by silk at the back.It was initially described as a "leather-like" finish, but it feels more like a good quality, grainy, waterproof bag cloth that is not prone to fingerprint smudges and scratches instead. Even without the case, it isn't that slippery for one-handed operation.Other colors include Lunar Titanium, Shadow Black, and Stellar Blue, with composite materials with optical effects, producing layered matte surfaces that shift with light. These color versions are slightly heavier at 190 grams.With the free case, the handset won't wobble when tapped on a flat surface.Top, bottom viewIt has a sturdy-looking aluminum frame and comes with an ample IP65 rating for dust and low-pressure water jets from any direction.Nice and comfortable to holdThe front is an Ultra-Narrow Equilateral 3D Curved Display 6.78-inch AMOLED with a top-center notch. It even has a customizable button on the right that you can easily reach in landscape mode when used as a shutter button or portrait mode when accessing other tasks like AI or silencing your device.I may be a little biased here, as green is one of my favorite paint jobs, but this is generally one of the best-looking smartphones that punches way above its price point for me. It won't look cheap even if you flaunt it while in a tuxedo or a formal evening dress, thanks to its premium finish and super-slim profile.With proper care, this phone is also expected to last.One of the best for entertainment on-the-goHow many phones have this kind of display at this price point? High-quality displayWhile I prefer flat screens, for an affordable mid-ranger, the Infinix NOTE Edge is packed with a good quality 6.78-inch LTPS AMOLED screen with up to 144Hz extra smooth refresh rate, sampling rate, 2160Hz PWM dimming, and 1.5K 2644 x 1208 resolution at 383 ppi.To keep it short, this is a high-quality display with Always-On Display and eye-comfort capabilities. It can provide generally rich colors that won't look cheap even beside phones priced 2x higher than the Infinix NOTE Edge.One of the best displays for the priceEye Care (TÜV Low Blue Light Certification) settings even include the "Sleep Aid Mode" that automatically adjusts color temperature based on biological rhythm to improve sleep quality. In my experience, it intelligently adjusts the color to warm at night before sleeping for a more eye-friendly, comfortable view.Color style could also be adjusted to "Bright-Colored," but I prefer the more balanced look of its "Original Color" mode.Adaptive brightness works. Outdoor visibility is also excellent. It works even under direct sunlight thanks to its up to 4,500 nits of peak brightness.Moreover, it has JBL co-engineered stereo speakers that can go reasonably loud. Sound signature is generally bright with decent bass response for a phone speaker setup. Distortion is minimal at max loudness, but highs could get peaky at times. It even has digital DTS Sound effects and a manual equalizer.My only small concern is that the JBL branding brought just a modest improvement in audio compared to rivals. I was hoping for a bit more, but it’s still a decent experience overall.It even has Hi-Res Audio support for compatible wired and wireless devices.Unlike other phones, you can't crank the speaker above 100 percent.Affordable Infinix phones have come a long way in image processingThe back camerasWhile decent for the price, cameras were the weak point of previous affordable NOTE Series smartphones, particularly those with 4G-only processors. But that is not the case with the new Infinix NOTE Edge anymore.This device is equipped with a 50MP f/1.8 primary shooter assisted by an unspecified secondary sensor (probably for depth sensing, Portrait shots).Daylight shotIn daylight, the device can capture high-quality images with decent dynamic range and shadows. Color profiles are generally warm and rich, something not that common at this price point.2x zoom shotGrain will start to show a little at 2x zoom, but your shot will still be great enough for social media posting even without editing.Indoor dim close-up w/ flashIndoors, even if the light is a bit dim, shots are crisp without losing much color. With the help of the flash, you can even get near-studio food shots.More indoor food shotsIt is good for capturing close-up images, but may struggle to do ultra-close-up photos.The edge detection of the Portrait mode is not perfect, but it looks cleaner than my previous experiences. The blur will be applied to all areas. No more missed blurs.Indoor Portrait modeThe best modes for Portrait zooms are 35mm and 50mm. At 50mm, where it zooms more than 2x, the AI did a pretty good job in sharpening the phone. Colors remain rich as well.Low light sample shotsLow-light photography is where I saw the biggest improvement. While it won't be as clear as high-end phones (obviously), and contrasts could be a little more aggressive, this is now more useful than ever in taking non-moving photos in the dark.Noise is minimal, artifacts are not visible unless you zoom too much, and colors will remain fairly rich. In short, this produces good enough night shots.By the way, it now has a Live Photo mode, a first on the Infinix NOTE Series. This can even save images to GIF.Daylight selfieIn front, it has a 16MP front camera that takes great-looking selfies. It is also wide enough for groufies up to 3 persons. Quality for indoors is decent as long as you have proper lighting. Indoor well-lit and lights off selfiesThe Portrait mode is not its strongest suit; it is hit or miss. But if you get it right, shots will be social media-ready. In low light, the selfie cam will understandably struggle.For videos, it records up to 2K 30fps. For usable video clips, I highly recommend turning on the Ultra Steady mode to help with minimizing the shake, especially when users record videos while moving.PerformanceMediaTek Dimensity 7100 AnTuTu scoreThe Infinix NOTE Edge is powered by the 2.4GHz 6nm MediaTek Dimensity 7100 octa-core processor and Mali-G610 MC2 graphics, the first in the world. It is paired with 8GB RAM and 256GB UFS 2.2 storage. It also has the MemFusion technology that can add an extra up to 8GB virtual RAM to the phone, bringing it to up to 16GB in total.Great for daily tasks and beyondIn line with the promise of Infinix, the NOTE Edge did well as an everyday smartphone.Even if its processor is not as fast as the similarly priced GT 30, running social media apps like Facebook, TikTok, X, Instagram, Reddit, and more is a breeze. Switching to entertainment apps like YouTube, Netflix, and Prime Video is smooth—even if there are apps running in the background.Using the phone for creator tasks like photo editing apps or CapCut for video is also generally lag-free.For Mobile Legends gaming, it runs the game at Ultra Settings with a consistent 80 to 86 fps. There is no noticeable lag during clashses though there's mild heating in non-airconditioned locations.For Honor of Kings, the device is capable of running the game at 90fps at ultra settings. This is a heavier type of game than MLBB, and I was surprised that it was able to handle it this well.Otherwise, I think that whatever cooling system that Infinix included here is decent. It doesn't get alarmingly hot in most tasks that we do.Overall performance of the phone punches above its benchmark scores, which means that the Infinix did a pretty good job in optimizing this phone for speed and a consistent experience.Stable connectivityFor connectivity, it has dual-band WiFi 5 with a stable connection. I also like that it has 5G connectivity that works well in supported locations. With 5G, users will be able to experience faster mobile connectivity speeds.My experience shows that it delivers stability on par with most mid-range devices in its price bracket. It handles streaming well, and with a strong signal, it even performs reliably for gaming.General call quality experience is good; it feels normal, never had a major issue with it in our location. In areas of our house with a weaker signal, the experience is identical to my primary high-end phone.Other parts of the world have an eSIM version, which would have made the overall experience of the phone more convenient, especially when travelling abroad.It even has an IR Blaster Remote for compatible home appliances, as well as the convenient Instant NFC Cross-Ecosystem Sharing that works with iPhone 12 or newer.As expected, its large 6,500mAh battery capacity translates to a good actual battery experience. All day 9-5 work time is possible with about 30-40% left at the end of the day. It can even last for over 20 hours of video playback at 50 percent brightness. In the games we tested, like Honor of Kings, it drops 2% of capacity after 10 minutes in a non-air-conditioned room.This is at least 20% better than the experiences we've had with 5,000mAh to 5,500mAh affordable mid-range battery phones in the past.Infinix also said that its battery has the "industry first" self-healing technology. While it remains to be seen if it works, Infinix explains that when fully depleted, low-current recovery automatically repairs micro-damage through dynamic recrystallization, significantly reducing long term degredation.This has an estimated 2,000 full cycles or about 6 years of typical use before reaching 80 percent of the capacity.In the software department, the handset runs with the latest Android 16 OS with XOS 16 skin. It has an AI-enhanced Glow-space design, smoother animations, and wallpapers with depth effects.XOS 16 also promises to have an improved touch responsiveness with millisecond-level sync between input and visuals to make experiences smoother and more natural.Meanwhile, the Folax Assistant is now smarter with call handling and summaries. At this price point, this is one of the few with a lot of AI capabilities that work from AI Writing, recording summary, note-taking, generating subtitles, and even image to theme for a more personalized experience.For images, the AI Extender amazingly works very well on the subjects we tried so far. It does not look unnatural. For the first time, HUAWEI launched a "Pro" version of its famed fitness band line.Meet HUAWEI Band 11 ProBasically, the HUAWEI Band 11 Pro elevates the standard Band 11 model with a sleeker and more premium design and upgraded sensors, all while impressively keeping the price under PHP 5K.Let's check it out.HUAWEI standard long battery lifeHUAWEI Band 11 Pro unboxedHUAWEI advertised that this watch with a 300mAh battery has up to 14 days of battery life on light usage, 8 days on regular use, and 3 days with AOD (Always On Display).Great battery life as expectedIn my experience, I consume 7-8% per day on average at a default brightness of about 40%, which is in line with what HUAWEI claims. On a very busy day, when I look at the screen a lot of times for notifications, health tracking, GPS on, and more, it consumed 10% of the battery.The charging pinsThis is still better than what most of the competition is capable of, and the standard long battery life that popularized HUAWEI fitness bands. But several rivals are starting to catch up. One of the fitness bands we tested even has up to 21 days of light usage while having a smaller battery.Personally, I only charged it once since I got it with its proprietary magnetic charging port. It took about an hour to fully charge. This also supports a quick 5-minute charge that gives about a day or two of light usage.Convenient smart featuresWorks with HUAWEI, Android, and iOSSetting up the watch is super easy. It works with WeChat and WhatsApp too.Convenient smart featuresCalls also show up as notifications, but you can't pick up—only send a quick reply stating that you are either busy or you will call later and more.These are very helpful in times when you can't look at your phone, but need to answer or message right away.GCash app installedI was also able to install GCash, the top e-wallet app in the country, on this watch. After linking the GCash app on your phone to your HUAWEI Band 11 Pro, you may now generate a QR code that you can use to pay.Other convenient features I enjoy and regularly use with this phone include the Alarm, Flashlight (you can change the colors and blink speed), and Compass.The music appIt syncs with my Calendar app, even if I am not using a HUAWEI phone, so I won't miss my schedules and events. It syncs with the Weather app on my phone and allows me to control my music playback using the Google Music app.HUAWEI advertised that it has the Remote Shutter feature, but I can't find it in the apps of the watch or the HUAWEI Health app. Apparently, this only works with the native camera app on HUAWEI phones (running EMUI 8.1+) or specific supported devices.Impressive set of useful health tracking featuresPlenty of fitness and health tracking featuresAs expected from a HUAWEI fitness band, the HUAWEI Band 11 Pro is complete with smart fitness and health tracking features. To make this possible, HUAWEI used several sensors, such as a 9-axis IMU (accelerometer, gyroscope, magnetometer) and an optical heart rate sensor. It tracks steps, calories burned, BPM, and more. This will definitely help me improve and manage my poor fitness and health habitsIt has HUAWEI Activity Rings too that motivate a healthier lifestyle by tracking three daily goals: Move (active calories), Exercise (minutes of activity), and Stand (hourly movement).With GNSS trackingBuilt for running and cycling, the device even has an Autonomous GNSS Positioning for outdoor use. It wasn't mentioned, but GNSS usually has GPS, GLONASS, Galileo, and BeiDou. Basically, this means that it can track running and cycling routes independently without relying on a connected smartphone.I was unfortunately unwell during the watch's testing period, and having undergone minor eye surgery yesterday, I was advised against engaging in rigorous workouts. But to try if the GPS works, I walked outdoors.The result? It was able to map our entire village accurately, where I walk regularly. I also tried it outside the medical city area, and the results were correct as well.Stay Fit PlanIn the app, it supports Stay Fit Plan for VIP users to help users reach goals faster. In my case, a 95 kg person, it advises me to lose 0.5 to 1 kg of weight per week with cardio and fat burning and fat burning basics plan for about 10-15 minutes per day to reach my achievable 90 kg goal in 62 days.While I can't do those workouts yet, I intend to follow these advises for my health once I'm allowed to do so. HUAWEI just noted that test results should not be used for medical studies, diagnosis, or treatment.It also has continuous heart rate monitoring with alerts when your heart rate is high or low. It even has exercise heart rate settings, which help users keep track and manage their heart rate in rigorous training activities.The watch also has SpO2 tracking, ideal for hikers to monitor oxygen saturation and alerts users if the air is thin or low, and health insights with TrueSense, among others.Sleep trackingI also like that it tracks my sleep comfortably, thanks to its lightweight design and high-quality watch strap. It records my sleep time, sleep breathing, and more.There were days when I lacked sleep, and the watch reminded me to rest better. For instance, my sleep duration last night improved compared to the previous day.Other key health features include Emotional wellbeing, where you can see your emotions and measure stress levels, and Breathing exercises to manage stress. This has nearly everything I need for fitness and health tracking, considering its small form factor.For the ladies, this has a Cycle Calendar too that helps in tracking their cycle.Lighter and better design than everBeautiful buildComing from the HUAWEI Band 10, the first thing you will notice is the much-improved build. The device is now made with a CNC-cut aluminium alloy case, not plastic. It even has high-end-looking chamfered edges, adding a more elegant appeal.The Band 11 Pro remains compact and slim at 43.5 x 28.2 x 8.99 mm and weighs just 18 grams without the strap. Using my precision coffee scale, it weighs 22.8 grams with the Green strap. The most premium HUAWEI Band yetAs mentioned earlier, this watch is so lightweight and comfortable that it almost feels like you're not wearing anything at all. HUAWEI also said that it is made with skin-friendly materials, which makes sense why my experience is this good. The strap is even resistant to sweat.A very good strapIt's generally an excellent daily watch—lightweight enough to wear all day and even through the night without causing fatigue.Other colors include Black and Blue with Fluoroelastomer Strap. My unit has a Green Nylon Strap, similar to my personal daily watch, the HUAWEI Watch Fit 4 Pro.It also features 5 ATM water resistance, making it suitable for pool swims. While it can withstand saltwater, prolonged exposure isn’t recommended due to its corrosive nature.Panda watch faceThe display is now bigger as well. From 1.47 inches, it is now 1.62 inches, and the bezels are slim for a sub-PHP 5K watch. The resolution is also crisp at 482 x 286 at 346 ppi, with good quality AMOLED color quality and deep blacks.The major upgrade in the display is the brightness levels. It has up to 2,000 nits, making it suitable even for outdoor use. In comparison, much more expensive watches like the Apple Watch Series 11 have a similar brightness level.
