Meet Acerpure Chill WAC525‑30W 1.5 HP – Comfortable cooling, made affordable
In case you missed it, Taiwanese tech giant Acer recently introduced its newest line of affordable air conditioning units in the Philippines under the Acerpure Chill branding. This is the 1.5 HP Acerpure ChillWe recently had a chance to test one of them, installed in our soon-to-be guestroom in our new home studio. To recap, Acerpure Chill's new home cooling machines are window‑type air conditioners ranging from 0.75 HP to 1.5 HP. These are positioned as an affordable yet eco‑friendly cooling solution starting at PHP 26,999 SRP.Here's what I think about it.Meet Acerpure Chill WAC525‑30W 1.5 HP - Comfortable cooling, made affordableInstallation may be tricky for homes without a dedicated slot or outlet. Our suggestion, this is best handled by a professional at a cost. After that, the setup is very simple. All you need to do is plug the unit in, attach the FREE batteries to the remote, and turn the unit on.The unit compact build for a 1.5 HP unit, with a modern white colorway and top‑discharge design. Basically, it's sleek and neat appearance, making it less obtrusive in most interiors. The unit when installed (don't worry, we filled the visible gaps with rigid foam insulation)Cooling PerformanceIn my experience, the unit effectively cools our around 15-18sqm room in about 5 minutes—in a scorching hot afternoon. At night, slightly over 3 minutes is enough.Fast and comfortable coolingThis unit uses Dual Inverter Compressor, R32 refrigerant (ODP/GWP compliant), and Hydrophilic Fin Technology for efficiency. The cooling range is 16 to 28 degrees Celcius. The wind it produces is generally gentle to the skin on Cool and even Dry mode.Dry mode is designed to reduce humidity in the air. It also has a Fan mode if you need just its gentle wind. It also swings when needed for even cooling.Filter when opened and the swinging finsTo make the cooling faster and more power efficient, I suggest pairing it with an air circulator.Overall Air quality feels fresh, thanks to its Smart Filter Clean system. What I use is the Acerpure Cool C2 (PHP 14,999 SRP) air circulator with built-in air purifier.Other featuresWhen paired with an air circulator/purifier The Acerpure Chill air conditioner also has Eco Mode designed to reduce energy consumption while maintaining comfortable cooling and Smart Filter Clean Indicator tells you when it is time to clean your filter. The filter is easy to open and clean as well. The remote controlControls are easy on with the neat-looking remote. Functions are generally easy to reach even with one-handed operation. You can turn off the digital displayThe AC unit itself has an LED display near the physical button controls. Users can turn off the digital display to avoid distraction when trying to sleep. One weakness is it generates more noise than split‑type ACs, but still manageable for everyday use. In fact, I even find it work like a "white noise" to help me sleep faster. If you will be doing voice recordings, I suggest using a mic with a filter like a DeadCat.It has a timer function as wellI have yet to feel its long-term effect, but Acer is marketing this air conditioner as energy efficient. In fact, it has a 5‑Star Energy Label, the highest efficiency standard set by the Department of Energy (DOE).It indicates that the unit consumes significantly less electricity compared to lower‑rated models, translating to lower monthly bills and reduced environmental impact.Of course, this unit is not perfect and could still improve in a number of ways. One of my wishes for its future releases is I hope that they will add an app support, allowing users to control and manage the unit even without the remote control. With this feature, you can power up the AC while away, ensuring a chilled room awaits your arrival. This has no smart home integration (Google Home or Alexa) as well. Smart home users may need to purchase a compatible smart socket to make this work.Acerpure Chill AC key specs, featuresTop-discharge designDual Inverter CompressorR32 refrigerant w/ ODP, GWPHydrophilic Fin TechnologySmart Filter Clean0.75 HP to 1.5 HPPHP 26,999 starting priceQuick thoughtsThe Acerpure Chill WAC525‑30W 1.5 HP is a compact, efficient, and affordable inverter window AC that cools quickly and delivers fresh and comfortable air. While it lacks smart features and produces more noise than split‑types, its strong cooling performance, eco‑friendly design, and accessible price make it a solid choice for households seeking reliable cooling without breaking the bank.Acerpure Chill WAC325-10W 0.75 HP - PHP 26,999Acerpure Chill WAC325-10W 1.0 HP - PHP 29,999Acerpure Chill WAC525-10W 1.0 HP - PHP 31,499Acerpure Chill WAC525-30W 1.5 HP - PHP 35,999The new Acerpure Chill ACs are now available at Acer Concept Stores, SM Appliance Center, and Robinsons Appliance.Online, the AC is available at Acer Online Store, Acerpure Shopee, and Acerpure Lazada.
