For the first time, HUAWEI launched a "Pro" version of its famed fitness band line.Meet HUAWEI Band 11 ProBasically, the HUAWEI Band 11 Pro elevates the standard Band 11 model with a sleeker and more premium design and upgraded sensors, all while impressively keeping the price under PHP 5K.Let's check it out.HUAWEI standard long battery lifeHUAWEI Band 11 Pro unboxedHUAWEI advertised that this watch with a 300mAh battery has up to 14 days of battery life on light usage, 8 days on regular use, and 3 days with AOD (Always On Display).Great battery life as expectedIn my experience, I consume 7-8% per day on average at a default brightness of about 40%, which is in line with what HUAWEI claims. On a very busy day, when I look at the screen a lot of times for notifications, health tracking, GPS on, and more, it consumed 10% of the battery.The charging pinsThis is still better than what most of the competition is capable of, and the standard long battery life that popularized HUAWEI fitness bands. But several rivals are starting to catch up. One of the fitness bands we tested even has up to 21 days of light usage while having a smaller battery.Personally, I only charged it once since I got it with its proprietary magnetic charging port. It took about an hour to fully charge. This also supports a quick 5-minute charge that gives about a day or two of light usage.Convenient smart featuresWorks with HUAWEI, Android, and iOSSetting up the watch is super easy. All you need to do is open it. After that, just download and install the HUAWEI Health app from the company's official website. Once installed, scan the QR on the display of the watch using your phone and follow the rest of the instructions.For those curious, the watch pairs with nearly all current smartphones—whether HUAWEI, Android 9.0 and newer, or iOS 13.0 and up.Right off the bat, I was impressed with its wide array of smart features. I particularly enjoy the quick replies it can do when on the messaging apps I use, like Facebook Messenger and Viber. It works with WeChat and WhatsApp too.Convenient smart featuresCalls also show up as notifications, but you can't pick up—only send a quick reply stating that you are either busy or you will call later and more.These are very helpful in times when you can't look at your phone, but need to answer or message right away.GCash app installedI was also able to install GCash, the top e-wallet app in the country, on this watch. After linking the GCash app on your phone to your HUAWEI Band 11 Pro, you may now generate a QR code that you can use to pay.Other convenient features I enjoy and regularly use with this phone include the Alarm, Flashlight (you can change the colors and blink speed), and Compass.The music appIt syncs with my Calendar app, even if I am not using a HUAWEI phone, so I won't miss my schedules and events. It syncs with the Weather app on my phone and allows me to control my music playback using the Google Music app.HUAWEI advertised that it has the Remote Shutter feature, but I can't find it in the apps of the watch or the HUAWEI Health app. Apparently, this only works with the native camera app on HUAWEI phones (running EMUI 8.1+) or specific supported devices.Impressive set of useful health tracking featuresPlenty of fitness and health tracking featuresAs expected from a HUAWEI fitness band, the HUAWEI Band 11 Pro is complete with smart fitness and health tracking features. To make this possible, HUAWEI used several sensors, such as a 9-axis IMU (accelerometer, gyroscope, magnetometer) and an optical heart rate sensor. It tracks steps, calories burned, BPM, and more. This will definitely help me improve and manage my poor fitness and health habitsIt has HUAWEI Activity Rings too that motivate a healthier lifestyle by tracking three daily goals: Move (active calories), Exercise (minutes of activity), and Stand (hourly movement).With GNSS trackingBuilt for running and cycling, the device even has an Autonomous GNSS Positioning for outdoor use. It wasn't mentioned, but GNSS usually has GPS, GLONASS, Galileo, and BeiDou. Basically, this means that it can track running and cycling routes independently without relying on a connected smartphone.I was unfortunately unwell during the watch's testing period, and having undergone minor eye surgery yesterday, I was advised against engaging in rigorous workouts. But to try if the GPS works, I walked outdoors.The result? It was able to map our entire village accurately, where I walk regularly. I also tried it outside the medical city area, and the results were correct as well.Stay Fit PlanIn the app, it supports Stay Fit Plan for VIP users to help users reach goals faster. In my case, a 95 kg person, it advises me to lose 0.5 to 1 kg of weight per week with cardio and fat burning and fat burning basics plan for about 10-15 minutes per day to reach my achievable 90 kg goal in 62 days.While I can't do those workouts yet, I intend to follow these advises for my health once I'm allowed to do so. For now, walking is life.I know these numbers aren't great, but I need to start somewhere, right?It even gives you "medals" for each achievement you do for extra motivation.Runners are in for a treat as it has AI Running Plans for beginners to marathoners. Pulse wave arrhythmia analysis, Sleep breathing awarenessThe Band 11 Pro also integrates Pulse Wave Arrhythmia Analysis, a technology designed to detect irregular heart rhythms at an early stage. This level of health monitoring is typically reserved for premium smartwatches or even medical-grade devices, positioning the Band 11's wellness features well beyond the usual scope of standard fitness trackers.When I tested it, it said that there were no abnormalities detected. HUAWEI just noted that test results should not be used for medical studies, diagnosis, or treatment.It also has continuous heart rate monitoring with alerts when your heart rate is high or low. It even has exercise heart rate settings, which help users keep track and manage their heart rate in rigorous training activities.The watch also has SpO2 tracking, ideal for hikers to monitor oxygen saturation and alerts users if the air is thin or low, and health insights with TrueSense, among others.Sleep trackingI also like that it tracks my sleep comfortably, thanks to its lightweight design and high-quality watch strap. It records my sleep time, sleep breathing, and more.There were days when I lacked sleep, and the watch reminded me to rest better. For instance, my sleep duration last night improved compared to the previous day.Other key health features include Emotional wellbeing, where you can see your emotions and measure stress levels, and Breathing exercises to manage stress. This has nearly everything I need for fitness and health tracking, considering its small form factor.For the ladies, this has a Cycle Calendar too that helps in tracking their cycle.Lighter and better design than everBeautiful buildComing from the HUAWEI Band 10, the first thing you will notice is the much-improved build. The device is now made with a CNC-cut aluminium alloy case, not plastic. It even has high-end-looking chamfered edges, adding a more elegant appeal.The Band 11 Pro remains compact and slim at 43.5 x 28.2 x 8.99 mm and weighs just 18 grams without the strap. Using my precision coffee scale, it weighs 22.8 grams with the Green strap. The most premium HUAWEI Band yetAs mentioned earlier, this watch is so lightweight and comfortable that it almost feels like you're not wearing anything at all. HUAWEI also said that it is made with skin-friendly materials, which makes sense why my experience is this good. The strap is even resistant to sweat.A very good strapIt's generally an excellent daily watch—lightweight enough to wear all day and even through the night without causing fatigue.Other colors include Black and Blue with Fluoroelastomer Strap. My unit has a Green Nylon Strap, similar to my personal daily watch, the HUAWEI Watch Fit 4 Pro.It also features 5 ATM water resistance, making it suitable for pool swims. While it can withstand saltwater, prolonged exposure isn’t recommended due to its corrosive nature.Panda watch faceThe display is now bigger as well. From 1.47 inches, it is now 1.62 inches, and the bezels are slim for a sub-PHP 5K watch. The resolution is also crisp at 482 x 286 at 346 ppi, with good quality AMOLED color quality and deep blacks.The major upgrade in the display is the brightness levels. It has up to 2,000 nits, making it suitable even for outdoor use. In comparison, much more expensive watches like the Apple Watch Series 11 have a similar brightness level. It can also go quite dim when needed.I only use 40% brightness outdoors, this display is BRIGHTBuilding on the Band 10, the Band 11 Pro introduces a sleeker, more modern interface with smoother animations and improved visibility. It is AGC DT-Star D+ glass-protected, and it covers 100 percent of the DCI-P3 color space.The panel is super bright, with 1,400 nits peak brightness, and supports 10-bit color depth. This means it's more than readable under direct sunlight. The colours pop, while the text and fine details are crisp, too.It supports 10 multi-touch points, making it good for multitasking or games that support multiple simultaneous touch inputs. It responds quickly and accurately to our taps and gestures.Fast and bright AMOLED!The bezels around the panel area are thin and symmetrical. On the top bezel is the super slim earpiece, while below it is the punch hole that houses the selfie camera.OPPO A6 Pro 5G's top and bottomThe phone is equipped with a bottom-firing and top-firing speaker for audio. Around the phone are microphones used for noise cancellation in calls and audio recording.The sound from the speakers is surprisingly loud. However, the distortion is noticeable above 85 percent as well. It can be pushed to 300 percent. However, we rarely need it to be that loud. 100 percent is usually enough.The microphones do a good job of picking up sounds from a meter away, and the call noise cancellation is good, too.CamerasOPPO A6 Pro 5G's rear camerasAt the back are the 50MP f/1.8 main camera and the 2MP f/2.4 Monochrome camera with an LED flash.The stock camera app includes Photo, Video, Portrait, Night, Pro, Hi-Res, Pano, Slo-Mo, Time-Lapse, Dual-View Video, Underwater, Sticker, and Doc Scanner. The Pro mode allows for controls of ISO (100-6400), Shutter Speed (1/8000 - 30 secs), EV (+- 3), Focus, and White Balance.Rear Camera Samples OPPO A6 Pro 5G's rear camera daylight 1xOPPO A6 Pro 5G's rear camera daylight 2xThe daylight images from the main camera are vibrant and detailed, with decent sharpness and contrast. The Cropped 2x zoom is detailed but is noticeably softer and slightly washed out.OPPO A6 Pro 5G's close-upThe close-up images' areas that are in focus are sharp, while the out-of-focus areas have a nice fall-off.OPPO A6 Pro 5G's rear camera indoors 1xOPPO A6 Pro 5G's rear camera indoors 2xIndoors, the images are similar to daylight. The images from the main camera and 2x are vibrant, contrasty, and detailed, and are decently sharp. Light sources easily overexpose in both 1x and 2x crops.OPPO A6 Pro 5G's rear camera lowlight 1xOPPO A6 Pro 5G's rear camera lowlight 2xFor low light, the camera app automatically runs Night Mode-like shots. Unfortunately, the noise has significantly softened and altered the image's colors. Light sources overexpose, and the white balance isn't accurate anymore.Overall, the rear cameras produced decent daylight and indoor images, but struggled with low light.Over the course of using the phone for three months, the camera's output has gotten better but it may still struggle when comparing with similarly priced smartphones.OPPO A6 Pro 5G's Selfie CameraIn front is the 16MP f/2.4 selfie camera found in the punch hole on the display. The stock camera app includes modes such as Photo, Video, Portrait, Night, Dual-View Video, and Pano.Selfie Camera SamplesOPPO A6 Pro 5G's selfie daylight Daylight selfies are detailed and vibrant, but it wasn't as sharp as we woud like. The skin tones were not accurate as well.OPPO A6 Pro 5G's selfie PortraitThe Portrait Mode's edge detection is okay, but struggled with sudden curves and fine fibers like hair.The Bokeh blur is pleasing and looks almost natural.OPPO A6 Pro 5G's Selfie Indoors Indoor selfies are better. The sharpness and color accuracy got better in this situation.OPPO A6 Pro 5G's Selfie lowlightIn low light, the selfie looks okay; it didn't lose as much detail and color accuracy as the main camera, but it is slightly softer, and the lip color is still off.Overall, the front cameras produced okay selfies, but will struggle against similarly priced smartphones.The rear cameras can record up to 1080 at 60fps while the selfie camera can capture up to 1080 at 30fps.Footage from the rear and front facing camera are decently sharp and vibrant but are shaky.PerformanceOPPO A6 Pro 5G AnTuTu and GeekBench resultsInside the OPPO A6 Pro 5G is the 6nm MediaTek Dimensity 6300 octa-core processor, Mali-G57 MC2 GPU, 6GB/8GB LPDDR4X RAM, and 128GB/256GB UFS 2.2 storage.During the AnTuTu test, the phone's temperature increased by 8.9 degrees while the battery lost 2 percent power.In Geekbench, the OPPO A6 Pro 5G scored 792 in the single-core test and scored 2,030 in the multi-core test. OPPO A6 Pro 5G's 3DMark and CPDT resultsIn 3DMark, the OPPO A6 Pro 5G scored 1,304 overall score with an average fps of 7.81. The UFS 2.2 internal storage got 320.68 MB/s in sequential read speeds and 241.53 MB/s in sequential write speeds.OPPO A6 Pro 5G benchmarks:AnTuTu - 602,421Geekbench 6 - 792 (single-core), 2,030 (multi-core)3DMark - 1,304 overall score, 7.81 average fpsCPDT - 320.68 MB/s sequential read speeds and 241.53 MB/s sequential write speedsThe OPPO A6 Pro 5G in AnTuTu, Geekbench, and GeekBench AI offer scores that are within the range of what is expected in its price range. Albeit at the borderline of what is acceptable. There are similarly price smartphone that outperform the OPPO A6 Pro 5G at lower prices, too.OPPO A6 Pro 5G's Genshin Impact Graphics settingsWhen playing demanding games on the OPPO A6 Pro 5G, such as Genshin Impact, the game is playable even at its default lowest graphics settings. It stutters or slows down when the screen is filled with enemies and animations.OPPO A6 Pro 5G's ColorOS UIIn our experience, the phone can handle the majority of tasks like navigating through the OS, opening apps, web surfing, and social media without struggling.The phone has an optical In-Display fingerprint sensor and face unlock for security. The initial setup and subsequent uses are quick, and it detects our biometrics instantaneously. It works even if your finger is a little sweaty.The face unlock only struggles when the camera is dirty. The screen brightens up when used in the dark. It detects the face and unlocks the phone super fast, too.Regarding connectivity, we have the following: WiFi 6E, 5G, 4G LTE, Bluetooth 5.4, NFC, OTG, GPS, GLONASS, and Dual Hybrid SIM support.Connections are usually stable for WiFi, and we get 4 to 5 bars of mobile data signal most of the time. This is expected because of OPPO's AI LinkBoost 3.0. It improves signal quality for work and for play.OPPO A6 Pro's Battery UsageInside the phone is a massive 6,500mAh battery. In our usual PCMark Battery Benchmark, it lasted for only 17 hours and 36 minutes. In our time with the phone, we would unplug at 8AM and use it until 8 to 10PM for several days, and we would always end with 50 percent battery left. It was connected to 5G and WiFi constantly. We even used it as our WiFi hotspot for a significant part of the day. The OPPO A6 Pro 5G is a two-day battery phone.The battery charges via USB-C with the included 100W wall charger, which charges the phone 100 percent in around 50 minutes.It is running on ColorOS 15 based on Android 15, which further leans into visual tweaks and performance improvements while adding new AI features. What surprised us was the IP69 dust and water resistance rating.The new AI features are nice and great to be in a more affordable price point. It may not be perfect now, but it will get better.What we hope OPPO will improve in the next iteration is that we hope they improve the cameras. The 50MP main camera and the 16MP selfie camera could be better, and we hope they add an ultra-wide-angle camera.Overall, at its price, we can't complain too much. Ultimately, it is a good phone for everyday use and for people who want a good-looking phone that lasts two days of battery life, even when using the phone as a hotspot all day. The main concern is the camera performance and the power of the SoC.
