POCO X8 Pro Max Review: Speed and Endurance Taken to the Next Level
The smartphone market continues to push performance boundaries every year, and the POCO X8 Pro Max arrives with a clear focus. It is set to deliver raw power and exceptional battery endurance which most "flagship killers" are known for. The device is pegged for users who expect their phones to keep up with demanding workloads and it seems like the POCO X8 Pro Max has a lot to offer on the the table as it brings together a flagship-grade processor, a large AMOLED display, and one of the biggest batteries in its segment. I have spent an ample time using the POCO X8 Pro Max as my daily device to see how it performs in real-world scenarios. This ranges from productivity tasks to gaming sessions and multimedia streaming. On paper, the phone carries some impressive specifications, including the new Dimensity 9500s processor, an 8500 mAh battery, and a 120Hz AMOLED display. The question now is whether these features translate into a reliable everyday experience.Let’s break down what the POCO X8 Pro Max is all about, and see if it is the 2026 flagship killer you that you're looking for.ProsFlagship PerformanceTwo-day batteryResponsive and bright displayGreat valueConsCould be on the heavy sideDesign and Build QualityThe POCO X8 Pro Max has a pretty straightforward design. It adopts a modern design that balances durability with a premium feel. The device measures 162.9 × 77.9 × 8.2mm and weighs around 218 grams, which places it on the larger side of smartphones. I could also tell that the phone has a heft to it. Despite the size, the phone feels well balanced in the hand, and the slightly curved edges make it comfortable to hold which is very ideal during long sessions of browsing or gaming. Flipping the phone, we have the back panel that features a clean layout. The oval-shaped camera module integrates smoothly into the design. It avoids excessive design elements, which results in a more refined look overall. The device is available in Black, Blue, and White which offers a few understated options for users who prefer a minimalist aesthetic. We have the White colorway for our review unit which I really like due to its minimalist appeal. Build quality also feels solid. The phone uses Corning Gorilla Glass 7i protection on the front panel, which helps improve resistance against scratches and accidental drops. Another highlight is the IP68 rating, which means the phone can withstand dust exposure and survive accidental water immersion under controlled conditions. This feature adds a layer of reassurance, especially for users who rely on their phones in different environments throughout the day.Overall, the POCO X8 Pro Max carries a sturdy and polished design that matches its flagship-level expectations.Display: Large, Bright, and SmoothOne of the most noticeable features of the POCO X8 Pro Max is its 6.83-inch 1.5K AMOLED display. The screen offers a resolution of 2772 × 1280, which delivers sharp visuals for reading, streaming, and gaming. The panel supports a 120Hz refresh rate, and this immediately improves the fluidity of the interface. Scrolling through social media, switching between apps, or browsing long web pages feels noticeably smoother compared to standard 60Hz displays. The refresh rate is also useful for support gaming apps.Brightness is another strong point. The display can reach up to 3500 nits of peak brightness, which means the screen remains readable even under bright outdoor conditions. In everyday use, I had no problem checking notifications or replying to messages while outdoors or in the balcony. Color reproduction also looks impressive thanks to support for DCI-P3 wide color gamut and 68 billion colors. With this, watching high-quality videos or browsing photo galleries feels vibrant and detailed. The display also supports HDR10+ and Dolby Vision, which further enhances contrast and dynamic range when streaming compatible content. In fact, Netflix can has HDR playback capabilities with this phone. For users who spend hours on their devices, eye comfort is an important factor. The display carries several TÜV Rheinland certifications, including Low Blue Light, Flicker Free, and Circadian Friendly certifications. These features help reduce eye strain during extended screen time. Overall, the display is one of the phone's strongest suits. The combination of high brightness, accurate colors, and smooth refresh rate makes the display one of the most enjoyable aspects of the POCO X8 Pro Max.Performance: Daily Driver Performance + GamingThe biggest highlight of the POCO X8 Pro Max is its performance. The device runs on the MediaTek Dimensity 9500s, a chipset built using an advanced 3nm manufacturing process. This processor features a powerful configuration that delivers high performance across various tasks. It utilizes a high-performance Cortex-X925 core that reaches speeds up to 3.73GHz for demanding workloads. To balance power, three Cortex-X4 cores operate at up to 3.3GHz, while four Cortex-A720 efficiency cores run at 2.4GHz to handle background processes and extend battery life. This multi-core setup ensures the device manages intensive applications and everyday multitasking with ease. This setup ensures that the phone can handle both heavy workloads and everyday tasks efficiently. During testing, app launches felt instant, and switching between multiple apps rarely caused any slowdowns. There's also zero app crashes in my time with the phone.Graphics performance is handled by the Immortalis-G925 MC11 GPU, which delivers strong results in graphics-intensive applications. Mobile games with demanding visuals run smoothly, and the device maintains stable frame rates even during extended gaming sessions. MOBA games are very playable with this phone. Even graphic-intensive ones like Genshin Impact run without hiccups and heat issues. You swipe the left sidebar inside a supported app to open the Game Turbo hub. The Wild Boost toggle activates the 3nm Dimensity 9500s for power during heavy play sessions. You also track the real-time FPS and CPU usage through the live performance graph. In the Enhanced visuals tab, you turn on Super resolution to view finer details in the game. This feature pairs with the Game HDR visual style to produce vibrant colors during gameplay. The Enhanced touch controls also allow you to set different intensities. High sensitivity utilizes the 2560Hz touch sampling rate, while the stabilization algorithm reduces tap jitter so your movements remain precise in combat. You also enable Wi-Fi optimization to maintain low latency and jitter for a stable online connection. The floating menu provides access to clear memory or reply to messages without a pause in the action.Memory and storage configurations also support high performance. The phone comes with 12GB of LPDDR5X RAM and up to 512GB of UFS 4.1 storage, which ensures faster data access and smoother multitasking. Connectivity features are equally modern. The phone supports Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth connectivity, e-SIM and dual physical SIM functionality, which keeps it ready for current and upcoming network technologies. When it comes to benchmarks, the POCO X8 Pro Max hits an AnTuTu score of 2,849,719. This result, which includes a GPU sub-score of 1,004,794, puts the device in the elite performance tier for 2026. Geekbench 6 results of 2,619 for Single-Core and 8,272 for Multi-Core confirm the speed of the MediaTek Dimensity 9500s. Graphics performance remains high with an OpenCL score of 19,653 and a Vulkan score of 20,881. During the AnTuTu run, the temperature rose by 17.7°C to reach 45.8°C, and the battery dropped 5%. These benchmarks prove the phone handles heavy tasks and gaming. The POCO X8 Pro Max delivers a strong hardware foundation. It is suited for users who value speed and responsiveness.CameraThe POCO X8 Pro Max focuses on a straightforward but capable camera setup. The main camera uses a 50MP sensor with OIS (Optical Image Stabilization) and a Light Fusion 600 sensor. The sensor includes 1.6-um 4-in-1 Super Pixel technology, which helps improve low-light photography by combining pixels to capture more light. Images captured with the main camera show good detail and balanced colors in well-lit conditions. Photos retain natural tones without looking overly processed, which makes them suitable for social media sharing or quick edits. Check out the sample photos below, the first two photos are taken in 1x zoom and 2x zoom. At night, photos are sharp with less noise. The photos retain most of the details and could even rival other flagship phone's night shots. This is the advantage of having a flagship chip to support the camera sensors. The phone also includes an 8MP ultra-wide camera, which allows users to capture wider scenes such as landscapes, architecture, or group photos. While it is not the most advanced ultra-wide sensor available, it performs well for casual photography. On the front, the device features a 20MP selfie camera designed for video calls and social media content. Selfies appear sharp under good lighting conditions, and the camera performs reliably for everyday use Overall, the camera system prioritizes reliability rather than complexity. It delivers consistent results for everyday photography while maintaining a straightforward shooting experience. Audio and MultimediaThe POCO X8 Pro Max performs well as a multimedia device. It features symmetrical stereo speakers that produce clear and balanced sound. I finished One Piece Season 2 live action in this phone using its loudspeakers. My impression with audio levels is that they are strong enough for watching videos without external speakers or headphones. The phone also supports Dolby Atmos, which helps create a wider soundstage for movies and games. Dialogue remains clear, and background audio feels more immersive when watching streaming content. Additionally, the device carries Hi-Res Audio and Hi-Res Audio Wireless certifications, which benefit users who listen to high-quality music through compatible headphones.Combined with the large AMOLED display, the POCO X8 Pro Max works well for streaming videos, listening to music, gaming, and general entertainment.SoftwareThe device runs on Xiaomi HyperOS 3, the latest software platform from Xiaomi. The system focuses on improving performance, interface smoothness, and ecosystem connectivity. Navigation feels fluid thanks to the 120Hz display, and multitasking remains stable even when several apps run simultaneously. The interface also introduces refinements to animations and system responsiveness. Built within the HyperOS 3 is the Xiaomi HyperAI which has useful gems like AI Writing, AI Interpreter and AI Creativity Assistant. The phone also seamlessly integrates Google Gemini for as its AI Assistant.HyperOS also includes improvements designed to optimize resource management, which helps maintain consistent performance during longer gaming or productivity sessions. Overall, the software experience feels modern and responsive, complementing the phone’s powerful hardware.BatteryBattery endurance is one of the most impressive features of the POCO X8 Pro Max. The phone packs an 8500 mAh battery, which is significantly larger than the typical smartphone battery capacity. This large battery allows the device to last much longer than average phones under regular usage. In practical terms, the phone easily lasts through a full day of heavy usage that includes browsing, streaming videos, gaming, and messaging. And if you're a moderate user, you may have a two-day battery life.Charging also remains convenient thanks to 100W HyperCharge support, which helps refill the battery much faster than traditional charging solutions. Another useful addition is 27W reverse charging, which allows the phone to act as a power bank for other devices such as earbuds or smartwatches. This device clearly stands out when it comes to battery longevity and fast charging tech.VerdictThe POCO X8 Pro Max delivers a strong combination of performance, display quality, and battery endurance. Its large AMOLED display provides a vibrant viewing experience, while the Dimensity 9500s processor ensures that the phone remains fast and responsive during demanding tasks. The camera system is quite good for it price, and the stereo speakers enhance the multimedia experience. On top of that, the massive 8500 mAh battery gives the device a clear advantage for users who spend long hours on their smartphones. It could be on the heavier side if you're being nitpicky, but the overall usage experience is good.In everyday use, the POCO X8 Pro Max handles both productivity tasks and entertainment with ease. This device earns an easy recommendation for users who prioritize raw performance and excellent value for money over smartphone design. With this, the POCO X8 Pro Max positions itself as a dependable device for users who demand both speed and longevity from their smartphone.POCO X8 Pro Max Specs6.83" 1.5K 120Hz ultra-bright AMOLED 2772 x 1280 resolution 3500 nits peak brightness and 2000 nits HBM 68 billion colors and DCI-P3 wide color gamut 3840Hz PWM dimming and Wet Touch display 2.0 Pro HDR display with HDR10+ and Dolby Vision MediaTek Dimensity 9500s 3nm manufacturing process 1 x Cortex-X925 (3.73GHz) and 3 x Cortex-X4 (3.3GHz) Immortalis-G925 MC11 and NPU 890 12GB+256GB or 12GB+512GB variants LPDDR5X 9600Mbps and UFS 4.1 8500mAh battery 100W wired HyperCharge and 27W reverse charging 50MP Light Fusion 600 main camera with OIS f/1.5 aperture and 6P lens 8MP ultra-wide and 20MP front camera Ultrasonic in-display fingerprint sensor Symmetrical stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos IP68 dust and water resistance Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6 162.9mm x 77.9mm x 8.2mm at 218gColors: Black, Blue, WhitePrice:Php 25,999 (Php 18,999 early bird) for 12+256GBPhp 27,999 (Php 20,749 early bird) for 12+512GB

OPPO Find N6 with ‘zero-feel crease’ now official; PH launch soon
Foldables typically force a trade-off. Sure, you get a massive screen, but suffer a visible crease, shorter-than-average battery life, or downgraded cameras across the board. OPPO seems to have finally fixed that with the newly launched OPPO Find N6. And the best part? It’s heading to the Philippines. Right after the global unveiling, OPPO Philippines teased the device’s arrival on social media. With the tagline “Making waves without a ripple,” the brand is clearly leaning into this model’s headline feature: a display so flat it defies the traditional foldable valley. Samsung’s tri-fold is dead, just 3 months after release
It seems like Samsung is facing some serious challenges with its new trifold.Samsung Galaxy Z Tri-FoldNo more Samsung tri-foldsAccording to Bloomberg, Samsung will stop the sales of the Galaxy Z TriFold (KRW 3,590,400 or around PHP 144K) in Korea first, followed by the US market, until stocks clear out. This comes as a surprise, since we expected Samsung to be the brand that could finally push the category mainstream, drawing more competition and eventually driving prices down.Only 3,000 units sold at launch, turning it into a collector's item with resale prices soaring. However, a post on Naver claims Samsung is already developing a successor, slated for release in 2027. So, there is hope that the current Galaxy Z TriFold may not be the last Samsung tri-fold.Industry insiders said that the phone's high production cost probably made it difficult to keep selling in large numbers. In case you missed it, rising costs of key components like DRAM, NAND flash, and mobile processors have likely put additional pressure on Samsung's margins.Generally, it's a shame that things like this are happening. The Samsung Galaxy Z TriFold shows strong potential, as it can expand from a 6.5-inch phone (cover screen) to a tablet-sized device with a 10-inch display.See this link for the full specs of the Samsung Galaxy Z TriFold. So far, the only other contender is HUAWEI, the pioneer of tri-fold smartphones, now on its second generation.Other brands have showcased concept devices, but have yet to release their own tri-folds as consumer products.Source: Bloomberg
