TECNO CAMON 50 Ultra 5G First Impression

TECNO is pushing into the premium midrange space this year with the launch of the new TECNO CAMON 50 Series, focusing heavily on mobile photography, AI features, and stylish design. Leading the series is the TECNO CAMON 50 Ultra 5G, which stands out with its curved AMOLED display, slim body, and camera-focused setup. After spending some time checking out the phone, it’s clear TECNO is targeting users who create content for social media, shoot photos regularly, or simply want a device that looks more refined in everyday use.TECNO CAMON 50 Ultra 5G Key SpecsOS: Android 16, HiOS 16Display: 6.78-inch Curved AMOLED, 1208 × 2644 (1.5K), up to 144Hz refresh rate, AI XDR 2.0, high-frequency PWM dimmingProcessor: MediaTek Dimensity 7400 Ultimate (4nm)RAM and Storage: 256GB + 16GB / 24GB, 512GB + 24GB (with up to 12GB Extended RAM)Rear Cameras: 50MP Sony LYT-700C main camera (OIS) + 50MP 3× telephoto lens + 8MP ultra-wide lensFront Camera: 50MP AF selfie cameraConnectivity: Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, NFC, USB Type-C, OTG, FM RadioMobile Data: 2G / 3G / 4G LTE / 5GAudio: Dual speakers, Dolby AtmosDurability: Corning Gorilla Glass, IP66 / IP68 / IP69K, underwater mode with post-exit water draining, US Military-Grade durabilitySecurity: In-display fingerprint scanner (FOD)Sensors: Geomagnetic sensor, Ambient light sensor, Distance sensor, Electronic compass, Infrared remote control, G-sensorColors: Moonshadow Black, Cypress Green, Nebula Titanium, Luminous Orange, Misty PurpleDimensions: 162.37 × 76.97 × 7.75 mmBattery: 6500mAh, 5-Year Durability Battery, 45W Super ChargeWeight: 181gSlim Design with a More Refined FeelOne of the first things that stood out about the TECNO CAMON 50 Ultra 5G was the design. TECNO clearly paid more attention to the overall in-hand experience this time around. The CAMON 50 Series features what TECNO calls its “Swan-neck Elegant Curve Design,” inspired by the graceful curves of ballet dancers. The smooth, curved lines flowing into the frame give the phone a cleaner and more polished appearance. It’s still a fairly large phone because of the 6.78-inch display, but the slim 7.75mm body and curved sides help make it feel comfortable during actual use. The slightly curved 43.5-degree AMOLED display also gives videos and social media content a more immersive look while scrolling or watching content.TECNO also offers the phone in several colors, including Moonshadow Black, Cypress Green, Nebula Titanium, Luminous Orange, and Misty Purple. The titanium finish especially gives the phone a more upscale, flagship-inspired look in person. The dedicated AI button placed lower on the frame also feels easier to reach naturally during use. Users can also customize it for shortcuts like FlashMemo, flashlight access, mute controls, or launching Ella quickly.Bright and Smooth AMOLED DisplayOne of the features that immediately caught my attention on the CAMON 50 Ultra 5G was the display. The 6.78-inch curved AMOLED panel has a 144Hz refresh rate and 1.5K resolution.Scrolling through apps, feeds, and menus already feels very fluid, especially with the high refresh rate enabled. The curved panel also adds a more immersive viewing experience while watching videos or gaming.Colors appear vibrant without looking overly processed, while the slim bezels help maximize the screen space. Indoor brightness looked good during the early hands-on session, with content remaining easy to view even under strong indoor lighting. The dual speakers with Dolby Atmos also help improve media consumption. The speakers also get fairly loud while keeping vocals and dialogue clear during videos and casual gaming.Camera-Focused ExperienceTECNO continues to focus heavily on cameras with the CAMON 50 Ultra 5G. The phone features a 50MP main camera with OIS, a 50MP 3X telephoto camera, an 8MP ultra-wide camera, and a 50MP front camera. The dedicated 3X telephoto camera is one of the more interesting additions since many phones in this category still rely heavily on digital zoom. The large rear camera module also gives the device a more serious camera-focused look.Camera performance still needs more testing, especially for low-light shots, video stabilization, and day-to-day consistency. But even from the early hands-on session, TECNO is clearly positioning this phone toward users who create content for social media and short-form video platforms.Smooth Everyday PerformancePowering the phone is the MediaTek Dimensity 7400 Ultimate processor paired with up to 24GB extended RAM and up to 512GB storage.During the short time spent using the device, app launches felt quick, and navigating between social media apps remained smooth. The 144Hz refresh rate also helps animations and scrolling look more fluid throughout the interface.AI Features Focus on ConvenienceTECNO is also adding more AI-powered tools throughout the CAMON 50 Series, especially around accessibility and productivity. The dedicated AI button can be customized for shortcuts like FlashMemo, flashlight access, mute controls, or launching Ella quickly. Some of the built-in AI tools focus on photo editing, voice assistance, translation, and quick shortcuts for everyday tasks.Large Battery for Daily UseThe phone packs a 6500mAh battery, which is larger than what many devices in this category currently offer. Even with the larger battery capacity, the phone still maintains a relatively slim profile in the hand. TECNO also includes 45W Super Charge support for quicker top-ups when needed.Actual battery endurance will become clearer after longer real-world usage with mobile data, gaming, camera use, and multitasking.First ImpressionBased on the early hands-on experience, the TECNO CAMON 50 Ultra 5G feels like a more refined direction for the CAMON lineup. There’s still more to explore once full testing begins, but from a first impression standpoint, the CAMON 50 Ultra 5G already looks like a phone aimed at users who spend a lot of time on content creation, social media, and entertainment.-Subscribe to our social media channels: Facebook, Instagram, Tiktok, Twitter, and YouTube. to receive the latest news and updates.
