Microsoft has started automatically upgrading consumer PCs from Windows 11 version 24H2 to version 25H2. The reason is support timing. Windows 11 24H2 will reach end of service in October 2026. After that, there will no longer provide security patches, bug fixes, or technical support. To keep devices secure, Microsoft is pushing users to 25H2. The upgrade process is straightforward. Since 24H2 and 25H2 share the same codebase, installation will be fastger with fewer compatibility risks, compared to full version upgrades.
