Xiaomi 17T Series Posts 134% Year-Over-Year First-Day Sales Growth in the Philippines

Filipino Xiaomi fans propel the Xiaomi 17T Series to a remarkable 134% year-over-year increase in first-day sales, marking another major milestone for the brand in the Philippine smartphone market. Record Growth: Xiaomi has achieved a remarkable 134% year-over-year increase in first-day sales for the Xiaomi 17T Series in the Philippines, extending the strong momentum built by previous T Series generations. Photography Focus: The Xiaomi 17T Series continues Xiaomi's collaboration with Leica, introducing a series-first periscope telephoto camera on the Pro model alongside upgraded imaging features designed for everyday creators. Filipino Support: Strong consumer demand, nationwide store activity, and enthusiastic community events demonstrate the growing appeal of Xiaomi's flagship-inspired innovations at competitive prices. Filipino consumers have once again demonstrated their strong enthusiasm for premium smartphone experiences that offer excellent value. Xiaomi has announced that the Xiaomi 17T Series, co-engineered with Leica, recorded an impressive 134% year-over-year growth during its first-day sale in the Philippines, marking another major milestone for the company's growing T Series lineup. The achievement reflects three consecutive generations of increasing demand for Xiaomi's photography-focused smartphones, further strengthening the brand's position in the Philippine market. Read TechPinas' Xiaomi 17T Review. Nationwide Rollout Attracts Huge Crowds As the Xiaomi 17T Series officially became available across the country, customers visited authorized Xiaomi stores nationwide to claim their pre-orders and experience the latest devices firsthand. The nationwide rollout was accompanied by dedicated fan events held at SM Megamall, SM North EDSA, and SM Mall of Asia, where early buyers gathered to celebrate the launch of Xiaomi's newest smartphones. The festivities also featured appearances by several brand ambassadors who joined the first-day celebrations and welcomed some of the earliest owners of the Xiaomi 17T Series. Fans also had the opportunity to explore the smartphones' upgraded imaging capabilities, particularly the enhanced mobile photography system and new telephoto camera technology. Three Years of Continuous Growth The latest first-day sales milestone did not happen overnight. Xiaomi's momentum has been steadily building over the past several product generations. The growth story began in 2024 with the Xiaomi 14T Series, which achieved a 78% year-over-year increase in first-day sales. The following generation, the Xiaomi 15T Series, expanded that momentum even further by posting 135% year-over-year growth. Now, the Xiaomi 17T Series continues that impressive trajectory with another triple-digit increase, registering 134% year-over-year growth during its launch day. The consecutive performance highlights the increasing popularity of Xiaomi's strategy of bringing flagship-inspired features to more accessible price segments, particularly in areas that matter most to many smartphone buyers, including photography, performance, and display quality. Watch the TechPinas Quick Unboxing of the Xiaomi 17T Leica Collaboration Continues To Shine A major factor behind the strong reception of the Xiaomi 17T Series is its continued partnership with legendary camera manufacturer Leica. The collaboration remains one of the defining characteristics of the T Series, with Xiaomi continuing to focus heavily on delivering an elevated mobile photography experience. Among the most notable upgrades is the introduction of the first-ever periscope telephoto camera in the Xiaomi 17T Pro. The new camera system enables up to 5x Optical Zoom and 10x Optical-grade Lossless Zoom. It is further complemented by AI Zoom capabilities that extend digital reach up to 120x. Meanwhile, both the Xiaomi 17T Pro and Xiaomi 17T feature Leica Summilux optical lenses that are also designed to capture crisp and detailed Live Moments directly within the camera application. By continuing its collaboration with Leica, Xiaomi is reinforcing its commitment to making professional-inspired photography more accessible to everyday users. Watch TechPinas' Xiaomi 17T Camera Test Video with Telephoto Zoom Clips and Photos: Powerful Hardware For Everyday Use Photography is only one part of the Xiaomi 17T Series experience. The new smartphones are also equipped with MediaTek's latest Dimensity processors, delivering performance suitable for content creation, productivity, entertainment, and gaming. The Xiaomi 17T Pro is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 9500 processor, while the Xiaomi 17T features the MediaTek Dimensity 8500. These chipsets are designed to provide smooth overall performance while supporting the computational demands of modern mobile photography, helping users capture, process, and share images efficiently. Combined with the camera enhancements, the processors contribute to an experience that balances creativity, speed, and everyday usability. Xiaomi Credits Meaningful Innovation According to Xiaomi Philippines, the record-breaking first-day performance reflects the growing appreciation among Filipino consumers for advanced imaging technologies and premium smartphone experiences. Tomi Adrias, head of marketing at Xiaomi Philippines, shared the company's thoughts on the milestone. "Our strategic focus on driving meaningful innovation, especially with the advanced telephoto lens technology co-created by Leica in the Xiaomi 17T Series, has clearly paid off with this historic 134% YoY growth. It proves that Filipino consumers deeply value professional-grade photography and high-caliber technology that doesn't compromise. We are incredibly grateful for the continued trust of our local community across three generations of the T Series." The statement emphasizes Xiaomi's continued investment in meaningful product improvements while recognizing the growing support from its Philippine customer base. Available Nationwide Following its successful launch, the Xiaomi 17T Series is now available through Xiaomi PH's Online Shop, the brand's official Shopee and Lazada stores, as well as authorized Xiaomi retail stores across the Philippines. With another record-setting first-day sales performance now under its belt, Xiaomi has further strengthened the momentum of its T Series lineup. The latest results also underscore how Filipino consumers continue to embrace smartphones that combine premium photography capabilities, powerful hardware, and competitive pricing, making the Xiaomi 17T Series one of the brand's strongest launches in the country to date. Sony LYTIA 610 unveiled for better zoom quality and videos

Sony Unveils LYTIA 610 Sensor to boost smartphone zoom and video performance.Sony LYTIA-610Vlogging-centric sensor with better zoom?According to Sony, the LYTIA 610 is designed to enhance zoom photography and video capture while addressing a common industry challenge: balancing image sharpness with reliable autofocus. The new sensor is a 1/2-inch stacked CMOS chip with roughly 64 megapixels. It holds a notable distinction as the first mass-produced sensor to use Sony's RB 2 x 2 On-Chip Lens (OCL) pixel structure. The design departs from conventional layouts by combining two different lens structures on a single sensor, an approach intended to improve both fine detail and autofocus speed. The featuresAccording to Sony, green pixels, which play an outsized role in overall image clarity, are paired with a dedicated 1 x 1 lens for sharper resolution. Red and blue pixels, meanwhile, are grouped under a 2 x 2 lens arrangement that supports phase-detection autofocus. Sony also built a custom remosaicing algorithm to work with this new pixel layout. The result, the company says, is more than a 20 percent gain in spatial resolution over its previous LYTIA 601 sensor, even though both chips use the same 0.7μm pixel size. The improvements aren't limited to still images. Sony also reworked the sensor's internal processing and data conversion systems, roughly doubling readout speeds compared to its earlier 1/2-inch sensor line. That faster data handling makes 4K video at up to 120 frames per second possible, a first for Sony in this sensor class, along with 4K 60fps HDR recording for tricky lighting conditions. The speed boost carries a practical benefit for multi-camera phones as well. It can help smooth out visual inconsistencies when switching between a primary and secondary lens during video recording. The LYTIA 610 has a 1/2-inch optical format, around 64 effective megapixels, and supports both MIPI C-PHY and D-PHY output interfaces. Sony expects mass production to begin by the end of June 2026.What do you guys think?Source: GizmoChina
