Sony is reaffirming its commitment to stop making PlayStation discs by January 2028, fully moving to digital releases. The company says the shift will follow how players buy games nowadays, with digital sales far ahead of physical copies. CFO Lin Tao said that Sony will “cautiously move this forward,” but the numbers show why. In its latest report, Sony earned $1.2 billion from digital sales compared to just $128 million from discs.
